We do a lot of artists the request the chroma key background, I think because they import into video software that has chroma key features. With that being said, if you are just doing photo work, you will avoid many extra steps if you shoot subject on a Light Gray Seamless Background. Keeping it neutral will eliminate the color cast spillover into the subject area. GREEN SCREEN SERIES–VIDEO #2 After you have created a selection to Layer Mask your subject on the Green Screen, there is often a Green Spill Cast that appears on skin, clothing or reflective jewelry. This video will show you a sure fire way to cancel out that cast! 1. Excellent! I always wondered of what use the “Hue” blending mode was. Now I know. Thanks!

  2. Hey Mama BRILLIANT tutorial! Thats a handy wee tip about using black in hue mode to desaturate!

    Many thanks 🙂

  3. Now what? Notice how the title says #2? There are about 10 more parts to this series. Just go to the channel and watch the Playlist. and go to #3, #4, etc

  4. i watched this vid now i am stuck with a red background now how do i get out of the red background and how do i change the back ground know , you just left off Now what??

  5. I definitely needed this video today since I’ve been working with a lot of images using the green screen. VERY helpful and I as well as everyone else appreciate the time you put into these videos.

I know you’re “photoshopmama” but any chance of you doing tutorials for editing video from the green screen?

Thank you for taking your time in creating these videos. Wow, I’m a graphic designer and I have been working with photoshop for many years and I can tell you that I’ve learn a lot from you. With no time to go to school, this is as close as it gets. Love your voice too. Bravo!!

  7. White is fine, you won’t have to deal with a color cast but if subject is wearing white–that makes it difficult for the separation. If someone were wearing green on a green screen that would make that difficult to. Idea is to set up shot with a background that contrasts with the subject colors for easiest separation.

  8. Hi Moma Shan,

I’m working on a picture I took with a white background, and I’m wondering if the color of the background makes any difference when following your tutorials. I keep hearing you mention ‘green screen,’ is this a backdrop that is used by photographers? I’m not familiar with it. I’ve been taking my pictures in my garage with a white sheet as a backdrop.
Love your tutotorials! I’m having so much fun learning from you.

  9. saludos from Puerto Rico!!! you are the best, i luv it nice tutorislll muy bueno el videooo 😛

  10. No I haven’t and don’t want to risk slowing down the computer or compromising it by installing something I know nothing about– plus no time– I have more than enough to do with what I’ve got going on, already. But thanks!

  11. Have you thought about using “VirtualBox” or something to create a sandpit VM on your PC? You could install GIMP or whatever on there and not risk that it would screw up your existing Photoshop install.
Photoshop is so expensive that I can’t justify purchasing it for hobby use. I’m waiting for one of the other image manipulation packages to come up with the non-destructive layers system you have in Photoshop. It looks enormously powerful.

  12. usually when i have to do small subtle touch-up like shadowing or like what u had with the green spill i would use a 20% opacity 80% flow brush on a new layer, but what u did was a great alternative with the hue layer… You do a great job mama shan, i love ur videos and i`ve learned lots from them (especially the shortcut keys!)

  13. Wow! Your videos are so great… they always help me to do things better. Now, I always watch your videos’ And I try to learn evrything I can from them. thanks a lot for everything…
    Dont stop posting!!!
    love, xx121314

  14. Thank you that is good to hear! If I had time and if it wouldn’t compromise my existing Photoshop I would investigate GIMP because it is free but alas it will not install. And in years past it got wiggy when I had Elements and versions of the full blown Photoshop on the system…so my choice was to keep what I paid the most for…the full blown Photoshop! But it’s good exercise for you and others to sort of translate the concepts into what you do use and I’m glad to hear you can do that! Bravo!

  15. I don’t have a copyright free pic of Brooklyn but in the continuing series, I am bringing the image into several different backgrounds, which opens up an array of other possibilities and techniques. You’ll see!
