'Green Living' a trend?

I love finding new ways to help the environment. Whether offsetting my own personal carbon footprint, spreading the word on global warming, or trying to convince people that living ‘Green’ is cheap & easy to do, I always enjoy it.

However, I’m starting to fear that the current climate crisis solutions are becoming, almost a fad. I watch so many commercials, and see so many advertisements that aren’t showing or telling us how to rethink our entire way of life, which is truly what green living is. Our world is in the envrionmental state it’s in from not living green in our everyday lives as a society from day one. You dont make temporary solutions to a permanent problem. People need to understand that we ARE the solution to a problem WE created. Once we do that, environmental sustainability will be accomplished. What are your thoughts?

  1. Environment is the surround where we live ;All of living humans & animal ; inhale oxygen & exhale carban dioxide.
For the earth’s environment plant inhale carban dioxide & exhale oxygen.
For Eco. Balance oxygen = carban dioxide
but by burning the energy resources to Generate the Power, release the excess carban dioxide , which is causing the green house effect – due to this Global warming is taking place.
Energy resources are mainly – Conventional & Non conventional
Conventional such as – Coal , Fossil fuel ( Diesel, Petrol, LPG,CNG, etc.) & Nuclear etc.
Non conventional – Solar, Wind, Hydro & Bio diesel etc.
These are mainly for used generating power, using Thermal/Gas/ Nuclear Power Plants. Which is turn used for Domestic use, Industrial & Commercial purposes such as running Factories & Transportation, running Agricultural Infrastructures etc. Obliviously with Industrial revolution energy requirement is tremendously increasing. However it leads to releasing of harmful gases and solid waste such as fly ash etc. which is causing Green house effect & Nuclear plant has risk of harmful radiations which is dangers to human life & animal kingdom.
Diesel, Petrol, ATF & Gas is being used in big way for IC& Jet engines which in turn used for transportation (LMV, LCV, HCV etc.) and Generators etc. Which in turn leading to Global warming, melting of polar ice & climate change etc.
We are still running plants based on old technologies, warn out & completed it’s full life may be 40 – 50 years old or more. In India we have seen the fiasco such as Enron Power, a new plant but due to red- tapism couldn’t be operated as per initial agreement & many more cases. ,
Use of Freon in Air conditioners is also causing to damage to environment. By developing the alternative to Freon & curbing the use of it.
Where new alternatives are under Research & development such as Bio diesel using Zetropha seeds (Ratan Jot)etc. and Non conventional sources are still not economical compared to conventional ones except hydro in some cases.
As a social cause it’s the duty of all citizen, Govt. & Industry to conserve the energy recourse, by not exploiting them and Make our planet Greener & safer for all.

  2. you’re on to something!…not only is it becomming a trend/fad , it’s becomming a money making trend!(trust me,I was in media for many many years)…as for the comment on only being allowed to have one child..uh this ain’t China ,and you ain’t Mao!!…….and what do we do when someone slips up and has #2,kill it??…..oh, wait….we already do that, I forgot! (and "that" dosen’t seem to bother us like the green issues—whew! tell me we ain’t screwd up in the head!)……

Hmmmm, I’m not even sure how to answer your question. Your only 19 years old, and thus far all of your questions have been about cars, football, pickup lines, and computers.

So exactly WHAT are YOU doing for a "green" lifestyle? Sure this isn’t some sort of homework question you want someone else to answer for you?

My thoughts are people should turn off (better yet, get rid of) their TV. No more TV shows, no more commercials telling people how to live their lives, and what they are doing wrong, or how they are not good enough because they do not own, or use such-and-such product.

People should invest their time and energy into their family and friends. Then into their home and land. Then into their community. They should follow their passions, and where their true interests in life are (within reason).

People should grow as much of their own food as they are able to. If they cannot grow their own food, then buy from local farmers, and at farmer’s markets.

Stay out of the shopping malls. Live within ones means, as debt free as possible. If you have to use credit to purchase it, you cannot afford it. Exception is a mortgage on a home/land.

Buy American when you do make a purchase (or buy products made in ones own country if you are not an American).

Buy the best QUALITY item you can afford. Stay away from plastic garbage. Keeps junk out of the landfills.

Produce no more than one child. Teach that child to appreciate and love nature, and to eat their vegtables.

  4. I don’t think that green living is a trend. Because companies are doing their part like At&t they stop sending iphone users bills though the mail now it sent to their phone. Stores are offering reusable bags and cleaning companies like Clorox made cleaning products without harsh chemicals.
Going all out green is expensive. They have a lot of things that Eco friendly out there today but costly. You are right we created this problem and we should solve it. If everyone does their part no matter what like turning off the lights when leaving the room, changing their old fashion light bulbs to more effect bulbs, unpluging chargers that are not in use, or using reusable bags when going to the market rather then using plastic bags.
