How can i tone down the almost-neon, lime green colored room in my home?

The color seemed really nice in the store on the sample card, but unfortunately not quite soo nice when used in large quantity. Is there a way i can tone it down without repainting so it isn’t so loud?

  1. You’re going to have to repaint unless you cover some of the neon with wall hangings or something.

  2. Hey dude, been there..done that ! Well, the thing is, anything you do to remedy this problem, will involve some kind of effort and work and expense, and it may even make the green tone worse. If you want to keep your expenses down, and you have enough paint left to work with, bring it back to where you bought it and ask the salesperson if they can add some tint/colourant that will tone down the brightness of the green (it likely has lots of yellow tint in it). A knowledgeable paint tinting person can look at the formula of your neon green colour, and know what to add to it to take away the brightness, to make it a softer, warmer green , as opposed to a bright yellowy green. If there’s not enough volume of paint in the can, the clerk could also just add in another one or two smaller One Litre cans of the same product, this might keep your additional costs down, by not having to buy another full gallon of paint. By the way, a lovely happy-but-not-neon green to try, by the Benjamin Moore company, is Dill Pickle 2147-40, trust me, its brighter on the wall than it looks in the chip, I’ve recommended it with much success. Good Luck ! 🙂

You could repaint 3 walls and just leave one wall green. Or, get a bunch of cheap picture frames from a dollar store or Big Lots or Ikea and frame lots of favorite photos or even pictures from magazines. Add floor length white drapes, a few small mirrors scattered among the framed pictures, and maybe some houseplants to break up the amount of green wall that is actually visible.

  4. Paint a 6 in (or so) white stripe going around the center of the room like where a chair rail would be or buy white wood paneling and put that up around the room.

  5. try adding some white or maybe toner lol you can find it at walmart and cheep too so u dont have to send alot of money or just paint white all over the walls then repaint it green but add some white to the gree so its not to loud
