Ex: Outdoor lighting. I know you can just buy solar lights, but I can’t find the deco. I am looking for, so I want to plug my lights into some type of a solar energy source? Is that an option?
where would I go about finding such an item?

Solar panels produce DC current, but inverters to convert to AC are not hard to find. Any auto parts store and the automotive department at a Wal-mart, K-mart or similar store has them. As the sun is probably not shining when you want to use the lights, you would need batteries for the panels to charge. The inverters would then draw power from the batteries. I don’t know how practical this would be, or if complete systems are available. I know it is POSSIBLE to do each step of what you want to do.
You can install a solar collection panel or panels and batteries as a standalone array. The so-called ‘solar lights’ are still not very efficient and do not last very long, especially outdoors. Do a google search for ‘solar power systems’ to discover the options available in your area.
There are solar systems that, through inverters, can supply normal 120 volt house current.
nope
solar energy is d/c current. most appliances are a/c
