Busk Break: WhiteMan covers Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)”

Asheville-based living statue/busker Ralph “WhiteMan” Longshore covers Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” near Pritchard Park in summer of 2011. No, the rumbly sound isn’t from a bad mic, it’s from the thunder of hundreds of drums at the weekly Asheville Drum Circle, which is happening behind Longshore, mere yards away. Longshore was voted “least favorite busker/street performer” by the readers of the Mountain Xpress in the Best of WNC 2011 reader poll, but he’s also one of the most visible — and popular in terms of crowd numbers — members of the downtown busking scene.
