My ideal green home would heat itself, provide its own electricity, grow its own food, and comfort and stimulate me, without requiring any outside inputs. It also would require minimal maintenance, have an adobe floor I could sweep, and be made primarily of earth, and have a living turf roof. There wouldn’t be much need to recycle, because waste would never be created. Thanks for asking!

I’ve been thinking a lot about "going green" in my home too. My ideas are; compact fluorescent bulbs, recycling paper, plastic, glass etc, planting less grass, bamboo floors because bamboo is a renewable resource, low or no VOC paint that is available at Home Depot now, energy efficient applicances, and in general making less waste and lowering my personal carbon imprint on our earth 🙂
A dream green home requires little to no "purchased" electricity – the electric company may even pay ME for producing extra electricity!
It is a safe, healthy place with fresh air and no toxic chemicals or radon which would create illness in me and my family.
It conserves resources and uses the sun for passive or active heating and the trees for passive cooling…..in a word, it’s AWESOME!
