I am trying to find out what is the deal with organic clothing and other simple ways I can go green.

  1. organic means the fibers used were grown organically without chemical pesticides or chemical fertalizer. while regular clothes use fibers that are not.

Regular Clothing… I’ll use Cotton and Polyester as my examples, since that’s basically what the majority of "regular clothing" is made of. Polyester is bad for the environment because in order to make it, you have to go through the same process you go through in order to make plastic. This means a lot of fumes enter our potentially clean air because we burn coal to manipulate it into the shaped we want, and it goes through a lot of other steps in the process, but I don’t just want to talk about Polyester. Now cotton, that’s the only thing I’ll reluctantly accept when buying clothing, because sadly it’s the best thing our society has to offer people like you and me. When you’re label says "100% cotton" on the label, that means that it’s been sprayed with gallons of pesticides that leak into the ground and put the Earth and its soil out of its stable balance and into a dimension of toxicness. Besides, have you ever thought about pesticides? Did you ever think about a little animal such as a rabbit that you may see out and about that you think’s really cute? Well, that rabbit would die should it innocently come up to something that’s been sprayed with pesticides and eat it, or even live around it. They don’t know what pesticides are. They don’t understand our humanly customs that we must pay for what we eat or that we have territorial land claims of which we are so selfish that we can’t even spare some of the crops and foods that we grow to that little starving rabbit straggling across the field. Heartless you say? Well, we don’t see it that way, since all we see it as is what we do in order to keep all that food for selling to the humans. Okay, so maybe I’ve been going on and on a lot, but believe it or not, I’m still not finished! What organic clothing is, (I’ll use cotton as my example,) is when it’s been grown all-natural. The cotton isn’t exposed to pesticides, they simply use onions, garlic, and chili to keep the pests away. They also don’t use "plant steroids" in order to keep the plants growing to their standards, which I think is inhumane and malicious, but I shall try to keep my opinion as unbiased as possible. I’ve seen online that some places have organc clothing for sale, but it is more expensive ONLY because it’s all-natural materials, instead of a zillion chemicals, (and when I say that, I’m not exaggerating.) Anyways, that’s the difference between regular clothes and organic, same with food. The difference is that one consists of chemicals and the other is all-natural. Which one’s more appetizing to you?

  3. well i personally find organic clothing more comfortable.
but why are you limiting yourself to clothes? try eatign more organic food, too.

  4. Organic cotton, is grown organically. Flax and hemp are grown organically, as far as I know, even if not certified.
You could say wool is organic, but it’s actually treated with some nasty stuff in the processing, but still probably not a bad choice, relatively.
Nylon is made from petroleum and polyester is made from a chemical reaction between several ingredients.

  5. if you go on websites that sell organic clothes, they will tell you what makes them organic. Many things that are organic are made out of organic materials. Also, some organic things are produced through sustainable means, and others are produced without child labor or not in sweatshops.
