Hi. Yes, that might be a good idea. Painting a dark wall lighter is always hard! You may still need two coats of your color, but if you prime it, at least you won’t need three coats!!

Yes prime the walls, I use KILZ as a primer, you can get it at Lowes/Home Depot paint dept.

Yes. Tan is a much lighter color than olive green. I’d definitely prime the walls.

Priming the walls is always a good idea. It eliminates the need to use like 4 coats of paint!! Make sure you clean them first to remove residue and patch any holes or gouges to give the best finished look!
