Off-Grid Homesteading: Alternative Energy – Solar, Kerosene, Propane, Wood, Coal

Off-grid homesteading alternative energy can come in from many sources. This family has backups on their backups. Their primary power comes from multiple solar panel systems using Outback brand…

  1. The first of a five video series on raised gardening is on my channel now. Hopefully the other four will take only one day each.

  2. Super system for a super price! I’m quite sure a smaller average 1200SqFt house would require less. I’d like to know though, how does the system switch between power from the battery bank and power from the electric company?

  3. trust me I am. So are MILLIONS of others that are living from pay to pay…if you don’t know people like that then great keep living in cherry hill or Beverly heights….do you think that people are poor because they choose to be poor? Do you know why GOD said Blessed are the poor? We want the very same happiness in life, I can’t speak for all poor but I know I am a hard worker, its hard when Harper shuts down our Coast Guard S&R Stations to save 1M but then rents pandas from china for 10M.

  4. Thank your for viewing and commenting. The link to the stove and the price is below the video in the description box. Just click “show more” and you’ll see all the links.

  5. We do tend to think of the “break even” return on our investment. I asked him about that. He was much more interested in the peace of mind knowing he has his own power and is not dependent on the grid. He is one smart man.

  6. That would be awesome. I bet you can do it too. I’d love to see a video of your project.

  7. You are spot on. Thank you for viewing and commenting. It is appreciated.

  8. Excellent. That is the whole point of the video. See what can be done and scale it to your needs.

  9. Many years of doing without other things and owning a successful business.

  10. I’m guessing you probably don’t have a 10,000 square foot home with outbuildings getting full power from solar. So your needs would be different. You can use what they have done and scale it to your needs.

  11. They sell excess power back every day. They are only attached to the grid to sell power not to use it.

  12. That would be awesome. Heating water is something that I don’t have a solid solution for right now.

  13. Great question. I guess you could do what this family did and move to where those people wouldn’t want to move to.

  14. The thing I feel like I’m the most ill prepared for are the masses of loud mouthed rowdy Americans who are going to migrate to Quebec after the doomsday scenario (especially from New York and Washington DC). How does one prepare for something like that?

Evac tubes have always been something that interests me…I really do think that is the best way to heat your water. Maybe I can do some DIY Videos of how to build some of this much cheaper than just going out and buying it at market value… Nice video, I’m enjoying!

  16. Most well prepared home I’ve ever seen, you would think that much energy could power an entire neighborhood, are they selling some back?

  17. If you don’t know where your next meal is coming from, then you should be afraid because you are NOT prepared.

  18. There is a huge difference from being poor and just not having a lot of money.

That’s good to hear. It was the direction I was going in until my teenage son died and the banks took the opertunity to rob me of my construction site and home whilst I was grieving . After the sale of the houses I wanted to build low cost self sufficient dwellings. I guess the greedy banks did not like the direction I was heading. Lost everything and penniless now. . The liquidators sold 85 thousand pounds of plant for 2 thousand and let a customer off oweing 45 thousand . Half million down.
