Panasonic Eco Solutions North America and Macerich have formed a strategic renewable energy partnership for a multi-property, retail real estate solar power program. Solar installations at 12 shopping centers in four states will start up over the next 12 months, yielding 10 to 12 megawatts of clean energy Marathon Oil is selling 97000 acres of undeveloped oil and gas acreage in south Texas. The company said the property was no longer essential to its exploration plans. Marathon will concentrate on 200000 acres in the same area, investing .6 billion to develop that asset. A new report from Deloitte asks America’s policymakers to consider whether energy independence is necessary to achieve reliable and affordable supplies. The report, Energy Independence and Security: A Reality Check, describes how the US already enjoys significant energy independence for most sectors and much of its economy, with transportation the only sector that remains dependent on imports.
