Through solar powered mobile phone battery chargers and solar powered lanterns, the oil firm hopes to penetrate rural areas in Kenya with the cheap, easy-to-use and widely available form of energy. Senior Vice President in charge of Sustainable Development and Environment for the Total Group Ms. Manoelle Lepoutre says the roll out of the scheme is a pilot project.
