I need a description of it and how it is useful in society.
Research being done today of solar energy to make it more practical.

Google.com/reader and google.com/alerts – You can search solar energy here get tons of info. Also go to solar company websites, they will usually have great animations on how solar energy works. ie – http://www.schueco.com/specials/solarspecial/index_en_DE.html
You can find plenty of helpful articles here http://www.renewables-info.com/solar_energy/solar_energy_articles.html , if you want more precise search search by tags.
well, solar energy can help you save electricity.. i found a site that contains, hydro electric power, solar power and wind energy.. hope this helps

Start with plain old Wikipedia. There’s lots of good stuff there.
