Is living green only for Kermit the Frog?

With global warming being such a huge concern in the news these days, are you actually living more "green" now? If so, what steps have you taken to become more environmentally conscious?

No, green living is people who give a damn about the planet. I gave up flying in airplanes (most forms of long-distance travel) to reduce CO2 emissions.

  2. Actually global warming is not as much a concern to me as "indoor pollution." Indoor pollutants were making my daughter and I very sick. We switched to "green" products and now she’s off all her meds and I am feeling better and don’t get headaches or have sinus issues like I once did.

We use concentrated products (less waste) they are safer for the environment, we recycle what little aluminum we use, I don’t use plastic (ah, shock) again the chemicals in plastic are not good for us so we use glass and reuse them until they break.

And, best of all we compost anything that is capable of being composted. That really helps reduce waste in our trash and helps the garden grow better.

The one thing I don’t do is drive some environmentally friendly car. I drive a 1998 Jeep. It’s paid for and when I go grocery shopping in town 45 miles away all my groceries and my two children will fit in the car. I don’t know how to get around that.

  3. The main thing is reduce unnecessary waste, I use motion sensors on my cfl and led lighting so my family doesn’t waste energy, power strips to stop phantom loads. Make sure the house is well insulated, when shopping I look for less packaging and use cloth bags. I recycle and compost but I have to say I am most proud of the rain barrels for landscape and gardening and flushing my toilet. (WATER shortages and overflowing storm drains that cause havoc. SIMPLE stop using drinking water to flush with).
