CHEMAINUS – The learning continues for energy ambassadors at Chemainus Secondary School. The process of powering their school’s hot water system was a lengthy process, that started with an idea. The students wrote essays, made presentations and were finally accepted for a grant. An idea is now reality. Four companies and organizations invested in the panels, leaving School District 79 with minimal costs. These 4 by 8 panels will supply between 15 and 41 percent of the hot water required. The energy ambassadors will now make it a daily chore to chart how much energy the school is saving and see what a difference even more panels would make.
